Among Us 2021 plans cover

The Among Us 2021 plans have been detailed by Innersloth. Aside from a recap on earlier reveals, it has revealed plans to release an Among Us roadmap and more about what's in store for the future.

Among Us is a social deduction game that has a group of ten players trying to collectively complete an ultimate goal. For example, one of the more popular maps has players trying to get a spaceship in working order. Unfortunately, two of the ten players are "Imposters" tasked with sabotaging these efforts and killing everyone else.

Now, Innersloth has revealed some new details about what's in store for 2021. If you've missed out on some of the more interesting stuff coming this year, you should check out the preview of the upcoming Airship map that's set to arrive in early 2021!

What Are the Among Us 2021 Plans?

First and foremost, Innersloth's Among Us 2021 plans lay out a recap of some of the things we've already known. Here are the key highlights:

  • The new Airship map is arriving in early 2021 as planned
  • The Xbox Console version is coming sometime in 2021
  • The game is now out on the Nintendo Switch, Xbox Game Pass (on PC), and the Epic Games Store.

With that out of the way, the next item of note is a series of small bug fixes that have been made to the Nintendo Switch version. This includes some words being blocked from text chat and the ability to scroll with the controller. The ability to buy cosmetic items is still missing from the game, but this should be fixed with a future update at some point in the future.

Among Us gained incredible traction pretty late into 2020 that we weren’t expecting, and that meant A LOT of change for us.

An Among Us 2021 roadmap will be arriving soon to better set player expectations for future content. This upcoming roadmap won't have specific dates until the developers are sure they can hit them, but it will serve as the best place to get an idea of what's coming in the future.

Progress on the game's account system is coming along, too — the devs say that they're "close" to getting it done. That said, Innersloth wants to take the time to ensure that it's done right and the developers need a little more time for robust testing.

Finally, the Among Us 2021 plans detailed on the developer's Itch.io page take some time to mention the logistical challenges they've faced over the last few months as the game exploded in popularity. Work had already begun on the sequel and they had to rapidly shift focus, nevermind a number of other business and legal issues (some of which were outside of the company's control). That said, they're working on hiring more people and laying the groundwork for a long-term future — it looks like Innersloth has a lot in store for the next year.
