As announced by Bandai Namco earlier today, Nier: Automata's 2B is joining the colorful cast of Soulcalibur VI on December 18th. Initially announced at the end of October, 2B's appearance in the arena fighter comes as a massive surprise. With a move-set inspired by her talents in Nier, 2B joins a cast of fighters using an array of swords, pikes, polearms and other weapons. The 2B character pack will also come with her own stage, music, and alternate costume, and based on the character creator, a potentially limitless number of iterations on her set. You can fight for control of the Soul Edge as 2B when she releases next week, on December 18th.

Soulcalibur has a long history of working with third parties and publishers in order to incorporate unique characters in their games. Just in Soulcalibur VI, Geralt of Rivia from The Witcher series is already available, and series mainstay Yoshimitsu has seen appearances in both Soulcalibur and Tekken games across the years. Speaking more historically, Star Wars characters Yoda, Darth Vader and Galen Marek all appeared in Soulcalibur IV, and Lloyd Irving, from Tales of Symphonia, appeared in musou spin-off Soulcalibur Legends on the Wii. With at least two more DLC characters to come, we could well see more crossovers, even from games not published by Bandai Namco.

2B is the second character that is included as part of Soulcalibur VI's season pass; the first was series mainstay Tira, first introduced in Soulcalibur III. The season pass is set to contain four total characters and two customization sets. Bandai Namco was roundly criticized for locking a previously free character behind a paywall, particularly when, based on the collaborations so far, they have plenty of options for DLC. Still, you'll be able to wield 2B and her sword skills next week when her character pack releases.
