Our The Lord of the Rings: Return to Moria Cooking Guide will show you how to wrap your hammer around the complex cooking system in Return to Moria.

The Lord of the Rings: Return to Moria Cooking Guide

If you want to survive for long in Return to Moria, you’re going to need to figure out cooking. Not only do you need food to prevent you from starving, but it’s also one of the best early-game ways to heal your dwarf.

How to Cook

Basic cooking in Return to Moria requires two things, a hearth fire, and a meal table. You can build both of these with very basic materials, but you also have the option of creating more sturdy constructions.

These orange squares denote the boundaries of your camp, and you can't build various structures outside of this range.

Build a camp hearth fire using 10 Wood Scraps, 6 Stone, and 6 Coal. When you place the fire, an orange square will indicate the area of the new camp where you can build other constructions.

Construct a Meal Table as well (10 Wood Scraps) and place it near your hearth fire. Interact with the hearth to open the meal crafting menu. From here you can turn various ingredients into meals that will not only refill hunger but will also restore health.

As you unlock new recipes, you'll eventually unlock other cooking utensils such as a Stove, a Roasting Pit, and an Oven.

How to Unlock More Recipes

You can unlock more Meal recipes and Ration recipes in The Lord of the Rings: Return to Moria by finding more Ingredients. You’ll start the game with only a couple of recipes in your hands, and you’ll have to explore the caverns of Moria to find more of them.

Your list of recipes should increase as you find more cooking stations and ingredients to cook with.

Each time you come across a new ingredient item, you’ll unlock a new recipe to use that item in. You have to find every ingredient in a recipe to unlock it in the hearth (or other cooking stations), but once you do, you can cook that meal at any hearth with a meal table attached to it.

How to Unlock More Brews

You can unlock more Brews in The Lord of the Rings: Return to Moria by finding and completing Ranger Journals.

The Lord of the Rings: Return to Moria Cooking Guide - Brewing Tanks

The Lord of the Rings: Return to Moria Cooking Guide | Brews List

Brews are the various ales and beers that Dwarves are well-known for. You can either drink a Tankard straight from a Brewing Kettle or Craft a Brewskin once you've discovered Steel Ingots, Ubasam Wood, and Leather to take a Brew on the go.

Tankards are the equivalent of Meals and must be used right away and Brewskins can be carried in your inventory like Rations. Drinking a portion of a Tankard or Brewskin will fill up a progress bar in the Buffs/Debuffs area of the UI; you won't get the full benefit until you drink 4 servings of a Brew. Changing Weapons while holding an unfinished Tankard will spill the Brew and destroy that Tankard.
