The Horizon Forbidden West: Seeds of Rebellion Announcement
In an official post on Steamforged's blog, lead designer Fraser McFetridge went into detail on Horizon Forbidden West: Seeds of Rebellion.
According to McFetridge, his team has worked with Guerilla Games' Narrative Team to create an official story within the canon of Horizon Forbidden West.
Specifically, Seeds of Rebellion is a prequel story, taking place before Aloy's arrival in the titular Forbidden West.
This setup is identical to Steamforged's official Horizon Zero Dawn board game, which also boasted a canon story scenario set before the events of the videogame source material.
Horizon Forbidden West: Seeds of Rebellion will be a board game for 1-4 players. It will work on the same engine as the Horizon Zero Dawn board game, delivering a cooperative, narrative-driven experience.
That narrative will focus on the Tenakth tribe. While they control most of the territory of the Forbidden West thanks to Chief Hekarro, a rebellion is brewing. A rebellion that may threaten the peace between the Tenakth's three clans.
You and your fellow Marshals must uncover, investigate, and fight this threat before the very fate of the Tenakth is changed for generations to come. Along the way, you will explore, earn powerful equipment, and fight dangerous machines.
Horizon Forbidden West: Seeds of Rebellion will include new features. First, this installment is fully cooperative; a change from the predecessor being semi-cooperative. Brand new machine enemies, complete with miniatures are also included.
In addition, Seeds of Rebellion will include exploration sections, You can make several meaningful decisions during these parts, which will shape your quest and even impact gameplay mechanics.
Finally, this board game is completely backward compatible with the Horizon Zero Dawn board game.
The Kickstarter campaign for Horizon Forbidden West: Seeds of Rebellion will go live on November 21
