Hello, TechRaptor readers! Here’s what you may have missed in the world of tabletop wargaming over the last week.
First up, we have two big announcements from Games Workshop. The first is the announcement of the next faction for Warhammer: Age of Sigmar with the Kharadron Overlords. A society of steampunk Duardin who spent the Age of Chaos living in giant cloud cities, the Kharadron Overlords have descended from the skies to join the battle against the Ruinous Powers as their iron grip on the Mortal Realms is receding. Battletome: Kharadron Overlords and the first model release wave is currently scheduled for early April.

The company also announced the release of Talons of the Emperor, a new army featuring both the Sisters of Silence and the Adeptus Custodes. The box contains a squad of Custodes, a squad of Sisters of Silence, a Rhino transport, a Land Raider transport, and a Contemptor Dreadnought. The new box also contains a mini-codex of sorts to allow Warhammer 40,000 players the opportunity to use these new models in their existing Imperial armies. The Talons of the Emperor box set is currently available for pre-order with a release date of March 25th.
Privateer Press has released the event information for the 2017 Lock & Load GameFest. This year’s event will feature the debut of the newest Hordes faction, the Grymkin, along with several tournaments and narrative events, hobby classes and seminars as well. The exact schedule of events will be released in the near future. Lock & Load GameFest is scheduled for July 14th – July 16th in Bellevue, Washington.
The two-player starter set for Warlord Games’ newest release Test of Honour is now available for pre-order. The feudal Japan-themed skirmish level wargame starter set will contain six scenarios with a narrative arc, designed to not only tell the story of Test of Honour but provide a solid introduction to the game rules in the same vein as the starter sets for Infinity and Warhammer 40,000. The starter set has a current release date of March 25th from the Warlord Games web store and should be available in your local FLGS shortly afterwards.
And finally, GCT Studios has released a preview for their latest Bushido release, the Okyo Ashigaru. While not as exciting as some of the more outlandish heroes or sorcerers in the game, the Ikyo Ashigaru will function as necessary foot soldiers to hold objectives, tie up opposing models, and do basic cannon fodder tasks on the battlefield.
