It's time to grab your camcorder, get your dog, and run away from terrifying supernatural forces. New first-person horror game Blair Witch puts players in the shoes of a man searching a demented forest for a missing boy. With your trusty dog Bullet at your side, use your flashlight and camera to explore. Record signs of the supernatural in your search for the missing boy, and try not to fall victim to the forest's ills.

It's 1996 in the quiet town of Burkittsville, Maryland. A young boy, Peter Shannon, has gone missing in the expansive Black Hills Forest. Ellis joins the search with his trusty canine companion Bullet to aid local police in finding the boy. What starts off as a normal investigation flips on its head and becomes an endless nightmare. You'll have to confront your fears and the Blair Witch itself, the mysterious being that causes the agony in the wilderness. Similar to games such as Outlast, it looks like you'll only have your camera, a flashlight, and your wits to help you survive.

The story-driven psychological horror takes place within the cinematic Blair Witch Project universe. The original 1996 movie was an unexpected muse for a new game, but Blair Witch seems to encompass the unsettling spirit of its predecessor with the horrifying trailer. Bloober Team, the minds behind the horror, are no strangers to scaring gamers. Other hits of theirs including the chilling games Layers of Fear and Observer.

Blair Witch is available for pre-order on the Microsoft store now and will be available through Xbox Game Pass upon release. Blair Witch is set to release digitally on the Xbox One family of devices and PC on August 30 for $29.99.
