Frontier Developments have released a new Warhammer Age of Sigmar: Realms of Ruin gameplay trailer. This strategy game was announced during Games Workshop's Warhammer Skulls showcase, and it features armies of the mortal realms fighting against the rising ferocious Orruk horde. While there was another trailer that showcased the Stormcast Eternals, humorously referred to as Fantasy Space Marines by certain parts of the community, this trailer shows off more of what players can expect on the battlefield.

Warhammer Age of Sigmar: Realms of Ruin Gameplay Trailer Reveal

The Warhammer Age of Sigmar: Realms of Ruin gameplay trailer shows off several key features. Since the game is an RTS you can command units to different parts of the battlefield to complete objectives. These range from front-line fighters to crossbowmen to flying units. The footage also shows the ability to set up long-range ballistas as well as deploy heroic abilities and war magic. Since the use of these buffs is key to victory in the Warhammer Age of Sigmar tabletop miniatures game, their presence is expected.

Other than showcasing these elements, the trailer was sparse. There wasn't much focus on the kinds of units that you can command, the presence of any named characters, or any form of mission variety. In addition, there doesn't appear to be any way to cosmetically customize your warbands, although that may be featured in another trailer closer to release. Curiously, the game's official page showcases two factions, the Stormcast Eternals and the Orruk Kruleboyz, and two other faction entries are locked. With this in mind, there's a good chance Frontier Developments have more to show with this game in the future.

Warhammer Age of Sigmar: Realms of Ruin will have an open beta from July 7-10. The game will release on PC via Steam and Epic Games Store, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. There is currently no confirmed release date or MSRP.
