There's esports, and then there's esports. New competitions are springing up left and right and that's why there's going to be... a The Sims game show? That's right — for some reason, EA has decided that The Sims Spark'd is something people will be interested in watching.

Check out The Sims game show trailer to get a feeling for the vibe of this upcoming reality show:

Hosted by American Idol finalist Rayvon Owen, three judges will determine which players can make the coolest and most stylish stuff in The Sims 4The Sims Spark'd will feature a number of competitions in a four-episode series. 12 contestants will be competing for an ultimate prize of $100,000.

At the moment, details are light on what exactly these challenges will be. That said, The Sims 4 offers up a lot of opportunities for the 12 contestants to get creative. If Master Chef contestants can compete to bake the best cake, then surely The Sims players can see who can cook up the coolest themed house or make the most realistic Sim representation of someone famous.

Regular players won't be left out, though — the Spark'd Challenge program will let budding creators strut their stuff. The best competitors can win a chance at making an appearance in a future iteration of The Sims game show.

When Does The Sims Game Show Premiere?

The Sims Spark'd seems like a bit of a silly idea. Then again, people are plenty entertained watching gruff dudes sift through abandoned storage units, so this isn't the craziest idea I've heard of in recent years.

You'll be able to watch The Sims game show on TBS starting on Friday, July 17, 2020, at 11:00 PM EDT/PDT on TBS. Episodes will continue to premiere in the same time slot on July 24, July 31, and August 7 until the first four-episode run is done; encore episodes will broadcast on the following Saturdays at 8:00 AM. You can also catch VODs of the episodes on Buzzfeed Multiplayer on each following Monday.

For now, you can get started with The Sims 4 on Origin with a free trial; after that, the base game will cost you $39.99. It also available on Steam, and 50% off as part of the Steam Summer sale.
