Valhalla Cats, developer of The Purring Questis offering to give the game away for free until December 31st for "people who can't really afford it" according to a news post on the game's Steam Community page.

In the statement, the developer talks about the financial difficulties they experienced during development of The Purring Quest and how they weren't able to buy new video games. Valhalla Cats went out to talk about how their company has an emphasis on an involvement in social welfare causes. The developer also made note of having been inspired by a simlarly generous act by Pixel Piracy developer Alex Poysky (who was interviewed by TechRaptor in March 2015) during the 2014 holiday season. The developer ended the post with the following statement:

I know that it is not much but I wish it will be useful for cheering Xmas up a bit to some of you. We are a very small studio so, if in the future you want to collaborate with us buying it, we will be grateful eternally. Every purchase means the whole world for us.

This is not Valhalla Cats' first act of giving. A portion of the proceeds from the game are donated to animal welfare causes. Valhalla Cats was formed by "by young and passionate gamers and animal lovers" according to their company page. TechRaptor's Georgina Young reviewed The Purring Quest

Quick Take

Many game developers have been generous in one fashion or another during the holiday season, and it's always nice to see a developer who's willing to give back to the community. This is the sort of thing that I can really appreciate as a consumer and respect a developer for - they're potentially giving up sales of The Purring Quest from an act of generosity. Valhalla Cats is, in my opinion, acting admirably in the spirit of giving and that's the kind of developer that I feel is worthwhile to support in the future.
