Niantic has announced four major new updates launching for Pokemon Go over the next few weeks, and they're aimed at helping players to "rediscover" the game, its world, and themselves.
In an official announcement post, Niantic says the updates will help players "experience the thrill of Pokemon Go like never before".
The first of the four updates, titled "Rediscover Yourself", is launching tomorrow. It'll likely focus on revamping the game's avatars and Style Shop, with reworked character models and more opportunities for customization on the cards.
After that, two further updates, "Rediscover Your World" and "Rediscover Kanto", are also coming. They'll both launch on April 22nd, or next Monday. The first will feature "refreshed visuals" that aim to represent the real world in a "fun and ecologically accurate way", while the latter is all about finding Kanto 'mons in "certain biomes".
Finally, the "Rediscover Your Reality" update will arrive on May 7th, and will offer the chance to take photos of more 'mons at once thanks to enhancements for the Go Snapshot feature.
The content of each update isn't visible right now; instead, there's just a tantalizing padlock icon next to each of the titles. It's likely we'll get more information about the updates as and when they arrive.
In the meantime, you can check out a trailer for the Rediscover update line right here. It gives an idea of what kind of things you can expect from the updates when they come.
Niantic says that these updates are already beginning to roll out globally, so you may notice that an update arrives a little early over the next few weeks depending on your region.
Together with features like the Party Play function, which encourages players to play together, Niantic will likely be hoping these updates can stave off competition from the likes of Monster Hunter Now and the upcoming Kingdom Hearts Missing Link.
You can download Pokemon Go for free right now on Android and iOS devices. Stay tuned for more info on these upcoming updates.
