Since being re-released on both the Xbox One and the PS4 in June 2015, Payday 2 has been the victim of countless matchmaking and multiplayer based bugs and glitches. These issues are specific to the Xbox One, with players reporting that it can take up to 10 minutes for them to get into an online game through the crime.net servers.

During their recent PAYDAYCON event in Seattle, Overkill Studios addressed this issue and also talked about the future of Payday 2: Crimewave edition, they posted on the official Payday 2 subreddit on the 22nd of September:

"We are currently working on a radical change - a full remake of the matchmaking system which will simplify the way you join games and improve the matchmaking. This is a solution that is built from the ground up, as the previous matchmaking system we have for PS4 and PC doesn't work well with [Xbox One]."

Alongside the lengthy reddit update, producer Almir Listo posted a short video on the Overkill youtube page further explaining the plans for the Xbox One update and when to expect it.

Overkill also aims to bring as much of the additional content from the PC version of the game over to the consoles, however with time restraints they will, "need to have a cut-off at some point".
