Bandai Namco has announced that a One Piece Odyssey demo will be available just a few days prior to the game's launch. The demo will be available on consoles (sorry, PC players) and progress in it will carry over to the full game, too, so you're not losing anything by giving it a shot.
Along with the demo announcement, Bandai Namco also released a new trailer for One Piece Odyssey, showcasing a rather intriguing aspect of the game. As you journey through the island of Waford, you'll be able to relive several of the Straw Hat Crew's most memorable adventures, including the Dressrosa and Water Seven arcs.
For each arc, you'll be able to play through pivotal moments like helping Vivi save Alabasta from Crocodile's civil war, or saving Dressrosa from the tyrannical intentions of Doflamingo. Rest assured that if you're a One Piece fan, there'll be plenty of series history for you to pore over in Odyssey. You can check out the new Memories trailer to see what's in store for you below.
One Piece Odyssey was originally announced back in March this year. It's an all-new story set in the universe of the piratical manga, and it sees Luffy and the Straw Hat Crew shipwrecked on the mysterious island of Waford. Luffy must find the rest of his friends and figure out the story behind the island.
Gameplay-wise, One Piece Odyssey is a Dragon Quest-esque JRPG that will feature turn-based battling. In the overworld, the Straw Hat Crew will get access to different abilities, which you'll use to traverse the world and open up new areas. All of this will, of course, be wrapped up in One Piece's distinctive style and aesthetic, so if you love the manga or the anime, this game is made for you.
One Piece Odyssey launches on January 13th for PC, PlayStation consoles, and Xbox Series X|S (there's no version for Xbox One, sadly). The demo for the game will launch on PlayStation and Xbox on January 10th, so make sure to download it ahead of the game's release.
