One of the cutest traditions Japanese Nintendo fans can enjoy is the company's seasonal trailers, and the batch for summer 2023 has just been released.
All three trailers have high production values and different demographic targets. They're also associated with different Switch games, including The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, Pikmin 4 (and Pikmin Bloom), and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe (with a dash of Pokemon: Scarlet & Violet).
A common element of all three trailers is the theme of returning home for the summer, which is considered very nostalgic and romantic in Japan, where many leave the countryside to go live and work in Tokyo or other big cities.
The first trailer features a young man taking a ferry to go back to his home on one of Japan's many islands.
The second focuses on a lady returning to her family home in a coastal town to watch the fireworks with her sister. The second is perhaps the most classic of them all, with a whole family going to visit the grandparents and relatives who live in the countryside.
Of course, the fact that the Switch is portable makes this kind of themes perfect to promote it to pretty much any kind of customer who has to travel.
As usual, Nintendo's filmmakers do a great job mixing these nostalgic themes with the games. you can check them out for yourself below and see if they trigger some nostalgia whether you're Japanese or not. Depending on where you live and your family situation, they may still hit home, pretty literally.
