Nine new physical Lego Star Wars sets are on their way to commemorate the upcoming launch of Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga. Each set will have a code inside that corresponds to content within the video game.

What do the new physical sets mean for Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga?

According to a Warner Bros. press release, you'll be able to enjoy interacting with the same Lego Star Wars vehicles, characters, and starships "in real life and in the game". Some of the newly-announced physical sets will contain codes you can input in Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga in order to unlock the corresponding content in-game. Others will contain sets that are already in The Skywalker Saga, so you won't need to do anything special to unlock those.

The sets include the Knights of Ren transport ship from The Rise of Skywalker and the iconic AT-AT walker from The Empire Strikes Back. It doesn't seem to matter which platform you're playing the game on; you'll be able to redeem your physical sets on the console versions or the PC version of Lego Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker. Simply input the codes from the sets and you're good to go.

When can we expect Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga to launch?

Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga will launch sometime this year for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC, and Nintendo Switch. It's the latest game in the Lego Star Wars series and collects all nine films from the main series. In a departure from tradition, you'll be able to play through the events of any movie in any order you choose, so you won't need to wait to unlock the good ones this time. The Skywalker Saga will feature almost 500 characters, many of which will be playable.

Developer Traveller's Tales says it's worked hard on revamping the combat for this new game. Instead of simply mashing buttons, you'll actually have access to lightsaber combos and blaster trick shots this time, as well as Force moves and distinct light and heavy attacks. In addition to this new combat system, Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga will also feature a massive interconnected hub that will allow you to explore locales from across the Star Wars universe. These locations include Naboo, Tattooine, Coruscant, and Kashyyyk, among others.

Warner Bros. says it'll have more information to share about Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga later this summer. You'll have to wait until then for a concrete release date. The physical Lego Star Wars sets are landing in August and September, so that could give us an idea of when the video game will be launching. Stay tuned for more news about this game.
