Koei Tecmo has released a brand new story trailer for the upcoming Fatal Frame: Mask of the Lunar Eclipse remaster. As well as showing off the setup for the game's story, the trailer also gives a closer look at some of Mask of the Lunar Eclipse's mechanics, as well as showing some of the alternate costumes for the first time.

In the new trailer, we see protagonist Ruka reminiscing about her time on the mysterious Rogetsu Isle, from which she disappeared when she was a child. She's returning to the island some years later in order to discover the truth behind what happened to her and the other children who went missing. You can take a look at the trailer, which is suitably atmospheric, right here.

As well as the story, we also get a look at the Camera Obscura, which is the "weapon" you'll be using to battle Mask of the Lunar Eclipse's ghosts. The Fatal Frame series is all about snapping pictures of ghosts instead of fighting them in conventional ways, and Mask is no different. You'll have access to a variety of different lens types to help you fight your foes, and you can upgrade your camera as you play.

The trailer also shows off some of the new outfits available to the characters. You can, of course, choose to play with the original outfits, which have been remastered alongside the rest of the game's visuals, but alternate outfits will also be available. These include a Marie Rose outfit from Dead or Alive for Ruka, which is a pre-order bonus, as well as traditional Japanese-style kimonos for the three main characters. Of course, there will also be a Photo Mode you can use to take snaps of your favorite moments as you explore Mask of the Lunar Eclipse's super-creepy environments. It wouldn't be much of a photography game without one, now would it?

Fatal Frame: Mask of the Lunar Eclipse arrives on PC, PlayStation, Xbox, and Nintendo Switch on March 9th.
