Today Japanese manufacturer Kotobukiya made a new plastic model kit available for pre-order dedicated to the popular Muv-Luv visual novel series.
Specifically, it's the non-scale Type-97 Fubuki in Imperial Japanese Army colors piloted by hero Yuya Bridges in Muv-Luv Alternative Total Eclipse. It was originally revealed at the Shizuoka Hobby Show 2023 in May.
Unlike many of Kotobukiya's Muv-Luv TSF models, this isn't a reprint, but it's a brand-new production. You can find it at the manufacturer's own store for 9,460 yen, which translates into $65.53. It'll be released in December 2023.
Approximately 180mm tall, it's on the higher end of Kotobukiya's models in terms of optional weapons and details, different from the smaller 1/144 models that tend to be less detailed and stand a bit shorter, at 140mm tall.
You can check out what it looks like in the gallery below.
If you're unfamiliar with the Muv-Luv franchise, it's widely considered one of the best (if not the best) visual novel series of all time and one of the first isekai stories that made waves within Japanese pop culture when the genre wasn't as oversaturated as it is now. It mixes a tragic and romantic story with one of the best and deepest sci-fi worlds ever written. It's so influential that Attack on Titan mangaka Hajime Isayama cited it multiple times as one of his main sources of inspiration.
Most Muv-Luv visual novels are currently available in English on Steam (while Muv-Luv and Muv-Luv Alternative have also been released on PS Vita) alongside the early access action game Project MIKHAIL: A Muv-Luv War Story. A mobile game titled Muv-Luv Dimensions is coming soon. Incidentally, the whole series is heavily discounted at the moment due to the Steam summer sale.
Incidentally, a mobile game titled Muv-Luv Dimensions will release in Japan on July 11.
