The Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Spec Ops game mode only has one mission at launch, contrary to what was said in an official blog post.
A bit of background: the Modern Warfare Spec Ops game mode was first revealed earlier this year as a timed PlayStation 4 exclusive, news that didn't exactly make everyone happy. However, the game's official launch has arrived and shooter fans can finally get their hands on the game. There's just one problem: only a single mission was included with Spec Ops at launch.
"We'll be adding new missions as we go along, so you'll be seeing more missions come online soon enough!," said an Infinity Ward representative on the /r/modernwarfare subreddit. The post was downvoted somewhat, indicating that people generally weren't satisfied with this response — and that probably has a lot to do with what was promised.
The Trouble with the Modern Warfare Spec Ops Blog Post
So, what's the issue with the current state of Spec Ops? Namely, it comes down to what was promised in a blog post about the feature.
Missions: Complementing the multi-stage Operations, and also available across all platforms, are additional Missions, which can be played solo or with up to four players. Whereas Operations give you the widest breadth of strategic and tactical choice, Missions are a more curated experience where your proficiency with specific weapons, killstreaks, and other tools will be tested. These Missions are extremely replayable, and you’re able to achieve a 1, 2, or 3-star ranking based on your performance. Naturally, there will be an “Infinity Ward time” that you can attempt to beat!
All Operations and Missions content in Special Ops will be available across all platforms at launch and through the post launch Seasons.
As this has not come to pass, fans are rather upset with the whole situation.
As the Infinity Ward rep has said, we should be seeing more missions coming to the game "soon", although we can't say for sure just how soon that will be.
