The Call of Duty Haunting of Verdansk event has been announced just in time for Halloween and it's ready to scare your pants off with the debut of some iconic horror characters such as Leatherface and Saw.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare may be winding down in anticipation of the launch of Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War, but there's still enough time left to squeeze in one more event. That's why a brand-new batch of spooky content is making its way to the game (alongside Call of Duty: Warzone, of course).

Check out some of the cool content making its debut in the Call of Duty Haunting of Verdansk event!

What's Coming in the Call of Duty Haunting of Verdansk Event?

Naturally, the Call of Duty Haunting of Verdansk event will have a lot of content for players to enjoy. This new content will include unlockable items and horror-themed items in the shop according to the blog post announcing the event.

Verdansk itself will be changing — a special nighttime version of the map will be available for the duration of the event. Aside from mixing up the gameplay, it will also feature Trick-or-Treat Supply Boxes where players can unlock one of 16 Trick-or-Treat Rewards for the duration of the event. These boxes might contain a nasty surprise instead, though — open them at your own risk!

The shop will have some spooky content for players who are willing to spend a few bucks. Players can pick up skins representing Billy the Puppet (from Saw), Leatherface (from The Texas Chainsaw Massacre), or the Call of Duty original Dr. Karlov.

Call of Duty Zombie Royale Mixes Things Up

A few other limited-time game modes are debuting, but one of the most interesting has to be Call of Duty Zombie Royale. This special version of Warzone gameplay revives some of the classic zombie shooter mechanics of yesteryear in Call of Duty: Warzone.

Here's how it works: typically, a player who gets taken down in Warzone gameplay gets a chance to revive themselves by fighting in the Gulag. Call of Duty Zombie Royale changes that up significantly — instead, dead players will get revived as zombies. Zombies can't use weapons, but they get thermal vision, increased speed and jump height, and deadlier melee attacks to compensate. As the game goes on, the remaining players will face more and more zombies.

The Call of Duty Haunting of Verdansk release date is tomorrow, October 20, 2020. The event will run until November 3, 2020. No specific start or end time has been announced as of yet.

You can experience some of this content by playing Call of Duty: Warzone for free via the game's official website; other portions will require a purchase of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare.
