Today Mojang released a new video about its massively popular sandbox game Minecraft, specifically about the upcoming major update.
Update 1.20, titled "Trails & Tales," will have several new features, but two of the most visible are the cherry blossom biome and the Sniffer mob, and today's video is all about them, with the developers explaining how they came to be and the philosophy behind their design.
You can watch it below.
More features coming with the update include new blocks and Archaeology, which will actually work in tandem with the Sniffer. While the update's features have already gone through several rounds of testing, we don't yet know a release date, albeit June seems probable.
If you're not familiar with Minecraft, it's a massively-popular sandbox game currently published by Microsoft following its acquisition of Mojang on pretty literally every platform with a chip inside. I'd list them for you, but I've honestly lost count. The latest major patch, The Wild Update, was released a while ago, so the times are quite mature for something new.
Microsoft also recently released its younger brother last month, Minecraft Legends, which isn't a sandbox game. It brought to the table the world, the characters, and the aesthetic for an interestingaction real-time-strategy game. It's available for Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PS5, PS4, Nintendo Switch, and PC includng Game Pass.
