Today Mojang revealed a new (or new-ish, I suppose) mob that will be introduced in Minecraft for the upcoming major update 1.21.
The mob is called the Bogged and it's basically a reskinned skeleton that fires poison arrows. It can be found in the new Trial Chambers location on top of other areas of the world, especially Swamp and Mangrove Swamp biomes.
Being an undead mob, you'll meet the Bogged only at night or in the darkness, so you can expect it to burn out if it's exposed to sunlight.
While the Bogged is one of the new features that will come with update 1.21, you don't need to wait that long to fight it. It has just been introduced for testing in the Java snapshot and will come soon in Bedrock preview.
In the meanwhile, you can check it out in action in the video below.
Minecraft is currently available on basically every platform that is semi-current. If it still turns on, it's likely that it runs this game. It's also an incredibly popular game. We learned a few months ago that it has sold over 300 million copies as of October 2023.
If you're wondering about update 1.21, we don't yet know when it'll be released officially, but this kind of patch usually gets added to Minecraft around June. The release date is normally not shared until very close to the actual release.
It'll include a number of new features including the Trial Chambers mentioned above and their brand-new Vault blocks, copper light bulbs, the super-cute Armadillo mob, the Breeze boss, and much more. Perhaps the biggest novelty is the automated crafter, which is certainly going to change the gameplay quite a bit.
It was announced back in October during Minecraft Live 2023, and it doesn't yet have an official title.
