Every year, to celebrate Minecraft Live, fans of Mojang's ultra-popular game vote for their favorite among the three mobs to decide which one will join the game.

This year is no exception, and now we know the first two mobs that will compete for that one spot.

The first is the Armadillo, a dweller of warm biomes that can drop a Scute, which can be used to craft armor for our wolf companions, able to provide them with a bit of extra protection.

It can also turn into a super-cute blocky ball when startled.

Next is the crab, which has a giant claw that players can use to place blocks further away compared to the norm.

You can check out a brief trailer below.

The Mob vote will open at 1 p.m. EDT on October 13, exactly two days before the opening of Minecraft Live at the same hour on October 15.

If you're unfamiliar with Minecraft, it's a massively-popular sandbox game with a large creative component. It's published by Microsoft, which acquired the original developer Mojang a while ago.

During Minecraft Live we'll likely hear about the next major update, following The Wild update last year and the Trails & Tales update earlier this year.

Incidentally, the latest Mob Vote hosted a year ago saw the victory of the Sniffer, which was then released within the Trails & Tales Update mentioned above, and actually played a relevant part in its gameplay, interacting with the Archaeology feature.
