NetEase has revealed a brand new map for its upcoming hero shooter Marvel Rivals, and if you're a fan of Loki - and Asgardian architecture in general - you're going to like this one.
Yggsgard is the result of a fusion between Asgard and the World Tree Yggdrasil after the Timestream Entanglement (it's a Marvel game, so bear with it), and as such, it's a fusion of the natural wonder of Yggdrasil with the grandiose structures of the realm of gods.
It's also Loki's kingdom, which he's building using his customary trickery, so you can expect some surprises while you're stalking its corridors in search of Marvel heroes to hunt.
In the reveal video for Yggsgard, we get to see not only the exteriors of the grand kingdom, but also its interiors, which are full of magical doodads as you'd expect from Loki.
Naturally, the interiors also betray an incredible opulence, so if you like duking it out amidst the trappings of rich people's houses, then this map is definitely the one for you.
At the close of the trailer, we also seemingly see one of Yggsgard's stained-glass windows depicting Loki entering into some kind of accord with Surtur, the lord of Muspelheim. What does it mean? We'll have to wait until the game comes out to find out.
If you're unfamiliar with Marvel Rivals, it's an upcoming third-person hero shooter with more than a passing resemblance to Blizzard's Overwatch.
Developed by NetEase, the game will feature a number of Marvel heroes, including Spider-Man, Storm, and Scarlet Witch, as well as characters from teams like the X-Men and the Guardians of the Galaxy.
It's just one of the upcoming games on Marvel's slate right now. Others include the Amy Hennig-led Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra, a Blade game in development at Arkane, and Insomniac's Wolverine project, as well as Iron Man and Black Panther projects in the works at EA.
