Today Sega announced the date of the "RGG Summit Summer 2023" livestream dedicated to the Like a Dragon series, formerly known as Yakuza in the West.
The livestream will be aired on June 15 at 11:00 pm EDT or 8:00 pm PDT, or on June 16 at 4:00 am BST or 5:00 am CEST depending on where you live. While the announcement made on Twitter doesn't say much, the Japanese livestream's title mentions more explicitly that we'll hear about the next Like a Dragon release. I know, it's not a very surprising detail.
You can find that embedded below.
The star of the show is likely going to be Like a Dragon Gaiden: The Man Who Erased His Name which is coming later this year for PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC. It'll mark the return of protagonist Kazuma Kiryu and showcase the events between Yakuza 6: The Song of Life and the next game, Like a Dragon 8, which will see Kiryu Share the protagonist role with Yakuza: Like a Dragon hero Ichiban Kasuga and will release in 2024 for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
Of course, it's possible that we'll hear more about future games as well. The previous RGG Summit had information about three titles, including Like a Dragon: Ishin!. I'm sure I wouldn't be the only one who would be delighted to hear about a similar remake for Kenzan!.
Recently, we saw videos showing behind-the-scenes footage of development and voice acting for Like a Dragon 8 and the results of the audition for the roles of five cabaret club hostesses in Gaiden, with one of the winners who will get a relevant part in 8. Popular Youtuber and Vtuber Kson was selected among the winners.
