Today Sega released the second episode of its series of featurettes about the work of the Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio on Like a Dragon 8 and more.
We start with a look at the development of Like a Dragon: Ishin! including discussions on the characters, moving from the possibility to include Mack Shinozuka, and the fact that Sega of America advised the inclusion of Miss Tatsu because she's popular. This sparks comments on how the studio approaches the western market, including the change of the cover of Yakuza: Like a Dragon (Like a Dragon 7).
The second part of the video shows a video acting session for Like a Dragon 8 in April 2022, the first marking the return of Takaya Kuroda, the voice of historical protagonist Kazuma Kiryu. Interestingly, part of it introduces the meeting between Kiryu and and the new protagonist, Ichiban Kasuga. The two characters will share the main character role in the new game.
We also hear that Kuroda-san is often consulted on how Kazuma Kiryu would think or act. He was very excited to return to the role after three years without playing the character.
The last part of the video return to Like a Dragon: Ishin! showing how some of the issues brought up in the first part of the video were solved.
You can watch it in its entirety below.
