Nintendo has announced an Animal Crossing Lego collaboration, so prepare to get even further in debt to Tom Nook.

The collaboration was announced earlier today with a rather barebones video on the official Nintendo X account.

In the video, which is soundtracked by Animal Crossing: New Horizons' adorable main theme, we see several Lego Animal Crossing villagers standing around, accompanied by Tom Nook and Isabelle.

Together, the villagers wave off a Lego present as it floats into the air, before the clouds part to reveal the Lego and Animal Crossing logos.

Presumably, the collaboration will involve new Lego sets themed around Animal Crossing, but technically, all Nintendo has actually announced is that some kind of Lego Animal Crossing collaboration is happening.

The gang's all here.

This, of course, isn't Nintendo and Lego's first collaboration together.

Famously, the two released a Lego Super Mario set back in March 2020, following that set up with additional Mario Lego merch and even a gigantic Bowser figurine.

Lego has also created crossover sets with other video game franchises, including Sonic the Hedgehog (on more than one occasion, in fact).

Lego and Nintendo fans have also speculated that a Zelda Lego set could be in the works, owing to a clampdown on Lego Ideas Zelda sets being created late last year.

A Lego set based on Overwatch 2 was also on the way at one stage, but it was shelved indefinitely back in January 2022 after Lego expressed concerns regarding ongoing complaints of a toxic working environment at Activision Blizzard.

It remains to be seen whether or not more Nintendo Lego collaborations will come to fruition, and, indeed, more details on the Lego Animal Crossing collaboration are yet to be released.

We'd be surprised if this wasn't a new set of Lego figures and playsets themed around Animal Crossing, though. Stay tuned for more info.
