Tsukihime: A Piece of Blue Glass Moon

Few visual novels are as legendary as Type-Moon's Tsukihime, and its reimagination, Tsukihime: A Piece of Blue Glass Moon is coming west. Today, Aniplex released the first trailer in English.

The trailer introduces the most relevant characters who will appear in the story, Arcueid Brunestud, voiced by Ikumi Hasegawa, Ciel, voiced by Kaede Kondo, Akiha Tonho, voiced by Shino Shimoji, and our hero Shiki Tohno, voiced by Ryosuke Kanemoto.

You can watch it below.

For the moment, we don't have a specific release date but we know that the visual novel will release globally in 2024 for PS4 and Nintendo Switch.

If you’re unfamiliar with the original Tsukihime, it originally debuted as an eroge for PC in December 2000 by Type-Moon, the creators of the Fate series. It was then adapted in 2003 into a TV anime series titled Shingetsutan Tsukihime.

Incidentally, the characters you saw today may very well be more familiar for many in the West than the visual novel itself, as they are at the center of the fighting game series Melty Blood and its latest entry, Melty Blood: Type Lumina.

The visual novel is written by the extremely prolific Kinoko Nasu, and it's considered the spiritual predecessor of Fate/stay night, which then evolved into the incredibly popular Fate franchise.

Of course, the similarities are obvious as soon as you watch the trailer.

Tsukihime: A Piece of Blue Glass Moon was released in Japan in 2021, so its journey to the West has been quite long. Yet, especially considering that the original game was never officially localized, its coming definitely gives me joy.

If you're interested in more relevant visual novels in English, recently the classic White Album: Memories Like Falling Snow has been localized by Shiravune, while soon we'll see the localized release of Aquarium, starring Vtuber Minato Aqua.
