SNK has announced a second open beta for 2D fighter The King of Fighters XIII Global Match.
This latest beta will work in a similar way to the one that took place in June. It'll be available on PS4, and PS5 via backwards compatibility, between July 31st and August 6th.
According to SNK, the beta, which is aimed at improving The King of Fighters XIII Global Match's online capabilities, will be free for everyone and won't require a PS Plus subscription to play.
The main playable mode will be a standard online versus match, with practice mode also available while you're waiting for an opponent.
You'll also be able to access the settings menu and the Customize mode, so you can set up your experience as you see fit.
You'll be able to download the beta client via the PlayStation Store starting from July 31st, which is this coming Monday.
If you've still got the client downloaded from the last open beta test, you'll simply have to update that client to check out the new beta.
All 36 playable characters across the roster will be playable, including variants of certain characters, for whom you can simply hover over the originals and press Triangle.
Of course, since this is an online beta, certain restrictions apply.
Save data can't be transferred between this beta and the finished game, and certain stages won't be selected during the beta either. You'll also need an internet connection to try the beta out.
The King of Fighters XIII Global Match is a re-release of the classic 2010 King of Fighters XIII.
It'll feature rollback netcode, which is arguably the standard for online fighting games nowadays, as well as "tuned-up" online gameplay.
We don't have a release date for Global Match yet, but it's scheduled to launch for PS4 and Switch when it does arrive. Stay tuned for more info on this one.
