Today Electronic Arts and Ascendant Studios revealed the first gameplay trailer of the upcoming magical FPS Immortals of Aveum.
The trailer, which follows the reveal made a few days ago, doesn't really make any attempt to be subtle and shows bombastic first-person battles full of magical energy and explosion. That's pretty much what you would expect from a magic combat FPS.
Don't get me wrong, it actually looks really awesome and certainly different from most of what the genre offers. If you're bored by the usual dime-a-dozen military shooter, this certainly looks like it has the potential to bring a breath of fresh air.

Having grown up powerless and destitute, Jak is what’s known as an Unforeseen – someone who unexpectedly manifests magical abilities later in life. With powerful magic-wielders and legions of soldiers on both sides of the Everwar, Jak and his elite order of Immortals must uncover the mysteries of Aveum's troubled past, if there's any hope for saving its future. Immortals of Aveum’s cinematic campaign is brought to life by an incredibly talented cast of AAA celebrities like Darren Barnet (“Never Have I Ever,” “Road House,” “Gran Turismo”) as Jak, and Gina Torres ("Suits," "Pearson," "Firefly") as General Kirkan.
Immortals of Aveum will be part of the EA Originals brand like the recently-released Wild Hearts, and will launch on July 20, 2023, on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam, Epic Games Store, and EA App.
