Roguelike news out of Slovakia, where new publishing label Grindstone have formed and announced their first project via a short teaser trailer. Described as a "gun-toting, roguelike dungeon crawler with retro-style pixelated graphics", Hellmut: The Badass from Hell certainly has the title to stand out from the crowd.

Hellmut hopes to target hardcore roguelike players who have blown through other titles in the genre, sporting that unique updated retro look that so many games in the genre share. The included screenshot gives a few more hints as to what players can expect, featuring multiple player characters, glowing green laser guns, and an unruly shopkeeper.

Grindstone has been founded by Peter Nagy, the CEO of Games Farm. This team developed games such as Air Conflicts: Secret Wars and the upcoming Vikings: Wolves of Midgard. The release we received did not specify who was developing Hellmut: The Badass from Hell, but a quick Twitter search located Lukáš Sedlák and the Volcanicc team. Their website provides a bit of background on the proceedings.

Our first game is about mad scientist whose experiment went terribly bad and he end up nearly dead (like only a skull and spine is left of him) in universe full of strange monsters which tries to kill him. During his journey he tries to get back to his original form but he soon discovers that thanks to his condition he can become something far more… different.
