Hand of the Gods: SMITE Tactics is a turn-based strategy card game as an offshoot of the popular MOBA SMITE is now available on Steam as an early access title. The announcement comes just after a new patch to Hand of the Gods, which refined Combat logs and added Clans and a Deck Tracker. We recently interviewed Lead Designer Scott Lussier, which you can check out here.
Previously, Hand of the Gods was only available on PC through the Hi-Rez Launcher, but considering their other games like SMITE and Paladins have also made their way to Steam, it's no surprise to see Hand of the Gods there as well. The game is free to play and you can get in on the open beta right now.
Hand of the Gods releasing on Steam also introduced a new Starter Pack, which contains seven core packs and a skin for Ra, the leader of the Egyptian pantheon. You don't have to purchase cards to gain more, as you can earn an in-game currency to purchase packs, similar to how Hearthstone works.
In our interview, linked at the beginning of this article, Lussier states they plan to roll out new cards to the game about every month and that the next pantheon is on the way. Right now there are six pantheons available to play but the Hindu pantheon is on the way with its leader Ganesha.
For those unaware, Hand of the Gods is like a Hearthstone and turn-based tactics game mashed into one. Your units and spells come from cards. In Hand of the Gods you place those units onto a grid and it plays out similarly to turn-based tactics games you may have played in the past.
Hand of the Gods is also available free to play on Xbox One and PlayStation 4.
