Arc System Works has released a new Guilty Gear -Strive- Johnny gameplay video showcasing the upcoming DLC character.

The iconic gambler will be available as downloadable content next week, when Season 3 begins alongside a big free update for the game.

If you're thinking about making Johnny your main, or you just want to try him out and know his combos, you'll want to take a look at the new Johnny starter guide.

The new trailer describes Johnny as a mid-range specialist with an "arsenal of excellent pokes".

His kit is based around the Mist Finer stance, which allows you to perform a number of different moves while it's active, some of which are unblockable by the enemy.

You can use attacks within Mist Finer to keep combos going, keep up offense after disengaging, and more. It looks like Johnny won't be an easy character to use, but he'll reward skilled and patient players.

Another of Johnny's key mechanics is his card, which he can throw towards his enemy at various levels.

Slashing at the card will trigger an attack in the card's position, and if it's blocked, Johnny will be able to press his advantage, meaning it's a great way to catch enemies off-guard.

Johnny can also Vault forwards, either closing a gap or leaping over an opponent in order to confuse them. You can also use Vault during combos.

Ensenga, meanwhile, is a high-jumping slash that can create space for Johnny, and it's a good way to put yourself at mid-range again so you can stay in Johnny's strong area.

We then get to see Johnny's Overdrive moves, starting with That's My Name, which launches opponents and follows up with an "immensely powerful attack" using Johnny's sword.

His second Overdrive is Joker Trick, which launches a card at the enemy and follows up with an additional attack on hit.

Johnny launches as DLC for Guilty Gear -Strive- on August 24th, which is also when the 2D fighter's third season begins. Stay tuned for more.
