Cygames has released an exciting new gameplay trailer for Siegfried, the moody dragonslayer revealed for the game's roster a couple of months ago. The studio has also officially announced a new online beta window of mid-July, so it shouldn't be too much longer before you get to roadtest the revamped fighter.
The new trailer introduces Siegfried's deliberate and powerful combat style; he's got a two-handed sword, so each blow lands heavily and weightily. We also get to see Siegfried interacting with various other members of Granblue Fantasy Versus: Rising's roster, including Lancelot and Percival. You can check out the new Siegfried gameplay trailer here.
Siegfried, who was unveiled in March during the EVO fighting game tournament, is one of the two new characters who have currently been announced for Granblue Fantasy Rising: Versus. The other is the Divine General Anila, a character inspired by the Chinese Zodiac. We'll learn more about other new characters heading to the roster as time goes on.
That time may, in fact, come sooner than you think. On Twitter, Cygames says that the Granblue Fantasy Versus: Rising online beta, which was postponed back in April, is now set for mid-July. The studio says that many of the "stability issues" that led to the online beta's delay have been resolved, and so the online beta client is currently being prepared for release.
We also get two tantalizing nuggets of information from Cygames' tweet. The first is that the studio is "still on track to meet [its] initial target" in terms of a full release for Granblue Fantasy Versus: Rising, and that more concrete dates will be revealed after the online beta's conclusion. In addition, the third new Granblue Fantasy Versus: Rising character will be unveiled in early July, and more info regarding new mechanics, modes, and more will follow. Exciting stuff!
If you're not familiar with Granblue Fantasy Versus: Rising, it's a revamped version of the original Granblue Fantasy Versus. Currently scheduled for PlayStation and PC this year, Rising will bring all-new characters, as well as new mechanics and modes, quality-of-life improvements like rollback netcode, and more. Stay tuned for more info on this one.
