Today, during a panel at EVO 2023, Cygames revealed news about its upcoming fighting game Granblue Fantasy Versus: Rising.
First of all, we learn about the fourth new playable character that will be introduced in the game following Anila, Siegfried, and Nier. It's Grimnir and you can check out his teaser trailer below. We also get to see the first gameplay of Nier herself.
On top of that, besides a few confirmations of things we already knew like rollback netcode and crossplay, we learn some new information about the game. We learn that costumes will be coming for the game, including Gran's "Guider to the Eternal Edge."
We also get to take a look at a new minigame for the lobby, Bombshell Barrage (which will join the previously known Rising Dash and Gold Brick Party), and the tease of more, with a stage that reproduces Tokyo's famous Shibuya crossing. It's worth mentioning that Cygames itself is located in Shibuya.
While Granblue Fantasy Versus: Rising will be a completely separate release from Granblue Fantasy: Versus, it'll still allow you to transfer over certain elements including story progress, tournament trophies, EX colors, and battle pass rewards like weapons and colors.
Incidentally, more announcements will come at the finals of the tournament at EVO 2023 on Sunday. Asked whether it could be the release date, director Tetsuya Fukuhara just smiled and responded "no comment."
