Gearbox Publishing San Francisco has announced a rebrand. The company is now going by Arc Games, and it's also teasing a brand new trailer for a hotly-anticipated indie project soon.

In a post on the official Arc Games LinkedIn page, the studio formerly known as Gearbox Publishing SF says it's "excited" to reveal the rebrand, but that beyond the name change, it's still "the same team of passionate gamers".

The post closes with Arc teasing a brand new trailer for Heart Machine's Hyper Light Breaker. Said trailer will be shown during tomorrow's Triple I Initiative indie gaming showcase.

Arc's name change decision has likely come about as a result of Embracer Group retaining Gearbox Publishing after Gearbox was sold to Take-Two Interactive last month.

As part of Arc-slash-Gearbox Publishing San Francisco remaining with Embracer, the latter will also retain publishing rights to franchises like Remnant and the aforementioned Hyper Light Breaker.

Not everything under Gearbox Publishing's umbrella will remain with Embracer, though; Take-Two will gain control of franchises like Duke NukemBorderlands, and Risk of Rain.

It's worth noting, too, that Gearbox Publishing still exists; it's still listed as the publisher for games like Risk of Rain and Blanc on Steam. Hopefully, Gearbox Publishing SF's name change to Arc Games should head off any confusion regarding who owns what.

Risk of Rain 2 is still published by Gearbox Publishing, not by Arc Games, which was formerly known as Gearbox Publishing. Ow, my head.

Arc Games' upcoming slate includes Hyper Light Breaker, the next game from Hyper Light Drifter and Solar Ash developer Heart Machine, as well as Gigantic: Rampage Edition, a relaunch of MOBA hero shooter Gigantic.

Prior titles published by Arc Games include the Remnant series of Soulslike shooters, as well as roguelite platformer Have a Nice Death and MMOs Star Trek Online and Neverwinter.

We'll have to wait and see what the future holds for Arc Games, but in the meantime, do be sure to check out the Triple I Initiative indie showcase tomorrow for a look at that tantalizing Hyper Light Breaker trailer.
