Amazon Games devs have detailed what's coming in the next New World Update and beyond, including 3v3 PVP Arenas and Expedition Mutators.
Although the playercount has leveled off somewhat, there is still a healthy community playing New World and Amazon Games shows no signs of stopping development anytime soon. Now, one of the most interesting items on the 2022 Roadmap will be making its debut soon: 3v3 PVP Arenas.
New World Update for May 2022 Debuts 3v3 PVP Arenas and More
First and foremost, the May 2022 New World Update will be debuting 3v3 PVP Arenas, allowing you to jump right into structured PVP action without having to hunt around the open world for someone to fight.
"It's basically on-demand PVP," explained New World Player Experience Lead David Hall. "So, you can just jump into the game, go to the mode screen, press 'Join Queue,' and get yourself put into a match very quickly. You can queue up by yourself if you want, you can queue up with your friend, or with both friends and just have a full team of three. If you queue up by yourself, you will end up being in a team of three, but we'll match you up with similar level players."
This new 3v3 PVP Arena experience aims to provide a low-risk experience for fighting -- you won't take any durability damage and players will be provided with consumables for the fight, so the only thing that's on the line in this battle is your pride.
Expeditions are getting a little more variety with the addition of Expedition Mutators which were explained in detail earlier this week. As an example, the "Explosive" Mutator makes enemies explode on death. According to the devs, the high Mutations are so challenging that they haven't been able to complete them.
