Koei Tecmo has revealed the rather beautiful Fate/Samurai Remnant opening animation.
The animation was created by CloverWorks, whose name you might recognize from Persona 5: The Animation and Ace Attorney Season 2.
It's all set to the sprightly and emotionally driving theme song "Zanya Gensou", and it shows several of the game's characters engaging in exciting combat, along with a series of striking still images and montage-style shots.
It's worth saying that as an opening animation, this is more of a stylized piece than a direct narrative video, but it gives a good flavor of what you can expect when Fate/Samurai Remnant launches in September.
Fate/Samurai Remnant was first unveiled in January this year. It's an action RPG set in the world of the Fate series, which also includes popular mobile game Fate/Grand Order.
The first details regarding the project were released in June, when we got to see new key art, learn all about our protagonist Miyamoto Iori, and see the first trailer for the game.
Several other trailers then followed, depicting new servant Tamamo Aria, a bevy of new and returning characters, and new rogue servants.
Fate/Samurai Remnant will revolve around the aforementioned Miyamoto Iori, who finds himself caught up in a Holy Grail War as the Waxing Moon Ritual unfolds around him.
Set in Edo-period Japan, the game will see you uncovering the truth behind the Waxing Moon Ritual as you explore Edo-era towns, take on different quests, and immerse yourself in the world of Fate.
When you fight, you'll switch between Miyamoto Iori and his servant Saber, and you must unleash the synergy between them if you're to succeed against Fate/Samurai Remnant's range of enemy servants and monsters.
Fate/Samurai Remnant launches for PC, PlayStation consoles, and Nintendo Switch on September 28th in Japan and on September 29th in the West.
