Following the grand finals of the King of Fighters XV tournament at EVO 2023, SNK shared news about the new Fatal Fury, The King of Fighters XV, and more.
First of all, we hear from SNK's Masayuki Oda and Joshua Weatherford the release date for the upcoming Najd DLC for The King of Fighters XV: She's coming on August 8. We also get the reveal of the next character, and it's Duo Lon, dropping in fall 2023 alongside a series of tweaks to the characters.
There's still another character coming in the season pass in Winter 2023, but we don't yet know who it'll be.
We also hear that rollback Netcode is finally coming to Samurai Shodown in September 2023 after having been pushed back to this summer back in June.
Speaking of The King Of Fighters XIII Global Match, the legendary 2D fighting game will return on November 16, 2023, for PS4 and Nintendo Switch. We already know that it'll support rollback netcode and enhanced online multiplayer.
Finally, we get the first trailer of the new Fatal Fury (Garou Densetsu), with the very first look at the characters in the game and the reveal of the title "Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves". For the moment, platforms and release window are still under wraps, but SNK says that it's "furiously in development."
If you’re unfamiliar with Fatal Fury, it’s one of SNK’s most established fighting game series from the glory days of the Neo Geo. The franchise debuted in 1991, but it has been dormant since 1999 with the release of Garou: Mark of the Wolves.
Some of the series' characters have continued to be active in The King of Fighters series, but the Fatal Fury franchise holds a special place in the hearts of many fans, especially due to its complex and interesting story, which nowadays is quite rare in fighting games.
Incidentally, the King of Fighters XV tournament was won by Xiaohai in a pitched final versus E.T. that ended with a Krohnen versus Krohnen duel.
You can check out all the trailers below and enjoy the SNK hype.
