After a few weeks of waiting, the Death Stranding Director's Cut PC release date has been revealed -- you'll be able to play this upgraded Kojima Productions game in late March 2022.
Death Stranding Director's Cut is an upgraded version of Kojima Productions' inaugural game Death Stranding. Although PC players got some exclusive crossover content with Cyberpunk 2077, PS5 owners might have got a better deal when the Director's Cut was revealed for PS5 last year.
As one might expect, the Death Stranding Director's Cut adds some nice new upgrades for players. There are, of course, some graphical niceties such as a higher frame rate, photo mode, and ultra-wide monitor support, but that's far from what's included. Players will get access to new game content such as races and other challenges, new buildables such as a cargo cannon, and a ton of cosmetics.
A few months after its initial reveal, we learned that the Death Stranding Director's Cut PC release date would be sometime in 2022. Now, the official release date has finally been announced -- and it's only two months away.
When is the Death Stranding Director's Cut PC Release Date?
The Death Stranding Director's Cut PC release date is March 30, 2022, according to a blog post from 505 Games. That means you'll be able to enjoy this new content in a little over 2 months from now.
What Does the Death Stranding Director's Cut Upgrade Cost?
This upgraded version of Death Stranding will cost $39.99 or your regional equivalent for people who don't yet own the game. Existing owners can upgrade to the Director's Cut for $9.99.
However, it should be noted that there's an even cheaper way to get the Director's Cut if you don't yet own the base game on PC. The base game Death Stranding is on sale for PC on both Steam and the Epic Games Store with discounts ranging from 65-70%. That means new customers who buy it now could later get the upgrade for $9.99 on the Death Stranding Director's Cut PC release date and save roughly $10 off of its total retail price.
Pricing aside, there are still some key facts we do not yet know. 505 Games promises that there will be a way to transfer over your existing save game data, but it has not yet specified how this will work; more details on this process are expected to arrive in the coming weeks. You'll be able to play the Death Stranding Director's Cut on PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store on March 30, 2022.
