Mintrocket has announced that Dave the Diver sales have crossed another major milestone (or perhaps that should be "depth marker", given the game's subject matter).
According to a new post on Steam, the diving-slash-restaurant-management RPG has managed to reach 3 million sales around the world as of December.
In order to celebrate the milestone, Mintrocket also posted new artwork of Dave the Diver, seemingly inspired by the classic artwork for The Beatles' Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band album.
It took the game around nine months to achieve a million sales, so it's pretty impressive that Dave the Diver has managed to pick up another two million since July.
Of course, the fact that it got a full release in June, both on PC and on Nintendo Switch, won't have hurt the game's sales figures, and nor will the fact that developer Mintrocket is a subdivision of major Korean publishing house Nexon.
Still, it's encouraging that a project as idiosyncratic and strange as Dave the Diver can attract sales figures like this.
For comparison, Sabotage's JRPG-inspired adventure Sea of Stars hit four million players in December, but that game is also available via Xbox Game Pass and PlayStation Plus, so the four million figure takes people playing it on those services into account as well.
If you're not across the Dave the Diver hype, it's a rather curious genre mixture that blends RPG gameplay, undersea exploration, and restaurant management.
By day, you must explore the ocean, completing quests and gathering ingredients. At night, the game transitions into a restaurant sim, as Dave manages his sushi restaurant.
In October, Dave the Diver received a major update that introduced new missions, expanded gameplay elements, and automation features, plus lots more.
