Could Five Nights at Freddy's 3 Be On the Way?

Five Nights at Freddy's was one of the surprise indie hits of last year and was quickly followed up with a sequel less than three months later. Now, developer Scott Cawthon seems to be teasing yet another sequel to the now series. Could we be seeing a Five Nights at Freddy's 3 in the near future? If Cawthon keeps with his gap between sequels, we could be seeing a Five Nights at Freddy's 3 sometime in February.

In most cases, teases such as this come with great gaps in between sequels for a beloved franchise, but will Cawthon's choice to tease in such a relatively short time have the same effect? Has Five Nights at Freddy's gone enough out of the spotlight to warrant it? If Cauthon keeps on the track he set with the sequel, it would mean he has created three games in the series in about half of a year (of course that doesn't include the time he spent creating the original game).

Our review of the sequel questioned whether the new features and changes to the old were really all that worthwhile. With only three months turnaround, it is not exactly surprising that some mechanics are not fully realized and tested. Cawthon seems to have the kernel of a great idea many have latched onto, now he needs to capitalize on it by expanding on that idea.

But, with such a short turnaround (which seems likely in the case of Five Nights at Freddy's 3), will that be possible?

This comes across that it is almost a given that Five Nights at Freddy's 3 is on the way, but considering this series's past, it is probably okay to speculate as such. In any case, some kind of content does seem to be in the works from developer Scott Cawthon. Whether that truly is Five Nights at Freddy's 3, or something else, is left to be seen.

What do you all think, is Five Nights at Freddys 3 on the way? And if so, is it a bit too soon to even just putting out a teaser? What sort of new features/mechanics would you expect or hope to see?
