Colossal Order has finally announced a release date for the long-awaited Cities: Skylines 2 modding update, and the game's roadmap has been revised to reflect this, as well as a couple of other changes.

In a post on the official Cities: Skylines 2 forum, Colossal Order announces that the modding update, which will allow players to make their own maps and mod the game's code, with asset modding becoming available later down the line.

As well as the modding update, a paid DLC pack by the name of Beach Properties is also launching on March 25th. It'll bring 70 new assets to Cities: Skylines 2, including new residential buildings, new signature buildings, and extra trees.

You'll soon have more beachfront property to play with in Cities: Skylines 2.

As Colossal Order points out, the content included in the Cities: Skylines 2 Expansion Pass has taken a little longer to get ready than the studio anticipated.

As such, the game's roadmap has also been updated. The Bridges & Ports expansion, which was originally due to launch in the second quarter of 2024, has been pushed back to Q4 instead, along with the Cold Wave Channel radio station.

However, the Modern Architecture and Urban Promenades Creator Packs are both still scheduled to launch in 2024's second quarter, as is the Soft Rock radio station. You can check out the updated Cities: Skylines 2 roadmap here.

The studio says it hopes to see a great improvement in terms of the game's performance, especially on "lower-end spec computers".

At launch, Cities: Skylines 2 was criticized for its lackluster performance, prompting Colossal Order to pledge to keep players updated on a regular basis regarding improvements made behind the scenes.
