The next two free Epic Games Store titles have been revealed. Starting from August 29th, you'll be able to download and keep Celeste and Inside from Epic's store.
Celeste is a platformer created by Canadian indie devs Matt Thorson and Noel Berry. The game focuses on the journey of young girl Madeline as she climbs the ominous Celeste Mountain. Gameplay-wise, Celeste is all about precision platforming. You'll need to learn the game's movement mechanics if you want to succeed. If you're a fan of hardcore platforming and surprisingly emotional storytelling, you'll likely get a lot from this one.
Continuing on a theme of emotional side-scrolling platformers, Inside is the second game by Danish developer Playdead Studios. It's a spiritual successor to Limbo, so if you've played that then you know what to expect. You take control of a small unnamed boy as he explores a sinister monochromatic world. Let it never be said Playdead doesn't do one thing and do it darn well. We were huge fans of Inside, so now's the perfect time to check it out. Hey, it's free, so what have you got to lose?
While you wait for those two, there's still plenty of time to grab mind-bending 2D-3D platformer Fez. Taking cues from Super Paper Mario and Crush, Fez sees you flipping levels from 2D to 3D in order to solve puzzles and grab collectibles. It's a game with an equal focus on atmosphere and puzzle-solving, so if you're in the market for a brain-teasing puzzler, you could do a lot worse. You can grab Fez on the Epic Games Store until August 29th.
As ever, all you need to get these games for free is an Epic Games account. Once you're all signed up, simply navigate to your chosen game's store page and hit the giant "FREE" button. Bingo - it's yours. No ifs, ands, or buts. Not bad, eh?
