Publisher Activision and developer Infinity Ward's Call of Duty: Modern Warfare marked the sixteenth installment in the franchise. The entry was received with favorable reviews, and mostly praised for its fast-paced gameplay and new 2v2 Gunfight game mode. As of December 2019, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare crossed the $1 billion milestone in sales, and was the best selling title of the series this console generation.
The title received its January update with open arms, welcoming 2020 with new content, tweaks, playlist updates, and much more. The update's highlights are the new Crossbow weapon, which players have to unlock through accumulating 5 kills in 25 different matches using the Marksman Rifle. If you are worried about not having enough room in your loadout, Infinity Ward added five additional slots for players to tailor to their preference. Finally, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare's multiplayer playlist will now feature Capture the Flag and Shoot the Ship, while Shoot House 24/7 leaves the rotation.
WHAT’S NEW
- Playlist Update: Added Capture the Flag and Shoot the Ship (Removes Shoot House 24/7) playlists! We also added Aniyah Palace back into rotation
- 5 additional loadout slots!
- New Weapon – Crossbow! Unlocked by using a Marksman Rifle with a Reflex Optic, get 5 kills in 25 different matches!
Unfortunately, not everything goes according to plan with updates, as players started reporting issues with the additional loadout slots resetting back to the default settings once players went back to the menus. Not only that, players' rank, XP, Battle Pass progression, unlocks, purchases, and more were visually reset if you acknowledged the error prompt. The development team is actively working to fix these issues, alongside other minor reported hiccups that occurred once the update dropped.
Let us know how are you fairing with the new Crossbow and if you tried it out in the Capture the Flag and Shoot the Ship playlists or if you have run into any of the bugs in the comments below.
