Sledgehammer Games and Treyarch have revealed the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 Season 1 patch notes, alongside the update notes for battle royale title Call of Duty: Warzone.

As previously teased when the Season 1 release date was revealed, this is an absolutely massive season for the game, bringing a huge amount of content both now and in the coming weeks.

Three new maps have been added to the game in the form of the "once-idyllic" Greece, the "compact" Meat, and the Training Facility, and another map, Rio, is dropping as the season progresses.

The roadmap showing everything that's new in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 Season 1
Season 1 represents a huge content drop for both Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 and Warzone.

Also new to the multiplayer game are brand new killstreaks, perks, and even fan-favorite modes All or Nothing and Gunfight, which should test your Call of Duty skills to their limit.

New weapons and parts have been added too, including the RAM-7 assault rifle and the Stormender EMP launcher. You can get these weapons as part of the Season 1 Battle Pass.

Three new Operators, including the mysterious Abolisher BlackCell, are also headed your way in Modern Warfare 3 Season 1, along with a host of gameplay improvements and bug fixes.

Of course, it wouldn't be a Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 season without some love for the Zombies mode, and you're getting plenty of new stuff in this mode as well.

The Zombies mode is getting some love too.

New additions for Zombies include a new Story Act and a new Mission. You'll need to investigate a huge new gateway in the Exclusion Zone, which paves the way for Modern Warfare 3's Zombies endgame content.

New Dark Aether Rifts will also task you with completing "a series of increasingly chaotic objectives" for the chance to earn some "exceptional rewards".

A new Wonder Weapon has also been added that allows you to transform humans into friendly zombies, or turn zombies into humans. Who needs to distinguish friend from foe, anyway?

You can read the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 Season 1 patch notes in full right here, and there are a heck of a lot of changes, so I'd strongly recommend doing so if you're heading into the game today.

The roadmap showing updates coming to Call of Duty: Warzone today and in the coming weeks
It's a big day for Call of Duty fans.

Call of Duty: Warzone is getting a big update today too, and it's perhaps even bigger than Modern Warfare 3, so if you're a Warzone lover, today is your lucky day.

As developer Raven Software says in the official patch notes, today's Warzone update brings the "arrival and integration" of Warzone into the Modern Warfare 3 era.

That means new weapons and aftermarket parts, plus a huge new map in the form of Urzikstan, which contains Warzone's "first controllable mobile POI" in the form of a fully drivable train. Take that, Fortnite.

The new map has been designed to improve "time-to-action pacing" for the Battle Royale mode, so it's about 20% smaller than the Al Mazrah map and match timers run for only 20 minutes.

In addition, unsuppressed red dots will now reveal where players are fighting one another, and there are more "second chance"-style redeploy mechanics to get you back into the game faster.

Returning modes in Warzone include the aforementioned Battle Royale, as well as the "faster-paced, more aggressive" Resurgence and the cash-focused Plunder. The zone control mode Lockdown is also making a return.

Again, make sure to take a look through the full Call of Duty: Warzone Season 1 patch notes to see everything that's new in the battle royale game. You don't want to be caught short in an engagement, after all.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 Season 1 and Warzone Season 1 are both scheduled to arrive at 9am Pacific today.

Remember that the base game isn't making its way to Game Pass anytime soon, so if you're waiting for that, you're better off just taking the plunge and picking it up now instead.
