Months of rumor and speculation have finally come to a head: Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War is very much a real game and it's going to be revealed later in August 2020.
Let's get right to it — check out the Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War "Know Your History" trailer highlighted by CharlieINTEL and get friggin' hyped.
The bad news is that this trailer doesn't actually show us any gameplay just yet. The good news, however, is that it does a fantastic job of establishing the setting.
Notably, the trailer's description mentions "Verdansk", a map and setting in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare and Call of Duty: Warzone. There's a possibility that we may be seeing some sort of in-game reveal as Fortnite tends to do. Alternatively, we could be seeing some substantial changes to that map somehow.
Previously, the rumor mill had hinted that we would be returning to a Cold War setting, likely in Vietnam. These rumors intensified when an Activision project code-named "The Red Door" was discovered and was strongly suspected to be the next Call of Duty game.
There's still a lot we don't yet know about this game, but one thing is certain: we're going to get our first look at the next big Call of Duty experience before August 2020 is over!
