Some rumors about the next Call of Duty game have popped up on ResetEra, fleshing out some things we've already known and dropping some hints about what could be coming next.

At the moment, there are two items of concern: the absolute mouthful of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 Campaign Remastered and the next core Call of Duty game. First up, we have some rumors and speculation from noted Call of Duty leaker TheGamingRevolution as highlighted on ResetEra.

Not So Modern Warfare

According to sources speaking with the Wewlads leaker group, the Modern Warfare remasters were originally planned to launch prior to 2019's Modern Warfare reboot. Unfortunately, that wasn't quite possible as evidenced by the recent release of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Campaign Remastered.

Unfortunately, TheGamingRevolution doesn't quite know when Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 Campaign Remastered will be launching. According to sources he's compiled, the third game is already done and we're just waiting on a firm release date.

One piece of information he does have is that this next game is likely to follow a similar release scheme as the Modern Warfare 2 remaster. That means that PS4 players are rumored to be getting it first, possibly a month in advance as with MW2.

What is the Next Call of Duty Game?

While getting the remastered Modern Warfare 3 campaign is certainly next, what about the next core game in the franchise? According to Jason Schreier, it's looking like it will be an all-new title set in Vietnam.

"As of right now [the next Call of Duty game is] still planned for fall, but nobody knows what's going to happen in the coming months!" Jason Schreier said in a tweet.

"I don't think it's a reboot[,]" he added.

Jason Schreier expanded on this upcoming title two subsequent tweets. In the first, he indicates that the next game is going to be set in Vietnam during the Cold War. The second tweet, however, is a little more interesting.

"I’m not a COD person so I don’t know anything about all the lore shenanigans or what it really means to be a Black Ops game," he added, "but one title I’ve heard thrown around a couple times is just 'COD: Vietnam.' As far as I know it’s part of the Black ops series though? Not sure[.]"

Call of Duty heading to Vietnam once again has been rumored for some time. The Black Ops series was popular in its own right, so maybe we'll be seeing a return to form before the end of the year.

What do you think will be the next Call of Duty game? Will we be getting Modern Warfare 3 Campaign Remastered first, Call of Duty: Vietnam, or something else entirely? Let us know in the comments below!
