Ever since it was announced, and I had the opportunity to play the demo before Indy PopCon, Battle Chef Brigade has been at the top of my list for games to play. The recipe for the game is pretty simple, mix up some great side-scrolling 2D combat to pick up ingredients and sprinkle it in with the well-crafted cooking mechanics that are both timed and puzzle based, all as part of the journey of your character to win cooking competitions and be a part of the "Battle Chef Brigade."

Players will get the opportunity to play as 4 different characters and chefs, each with their own set of combat skills and elements. Taking gaming inspirations from Super Smash Bros, Guardian Heroes, and others, Battle Chef Brigade was also inspired by the show Iron Chef and came to life when the developers at Trinket Studios came to the realization that there wasn't really any game similar to that style. So...they set out to make their own.

If you're looking for a game that has solid side-scrolling combat mechanics, as well as a fine-tuned cooking system that the developers have re-visited over and over to ensure that it's "fun", then Battle Chef Brigade may be a game you'd enjoy. To find out a little bit about Mina, the first Chef you'll play as, check out the new trailer below!

Battle Chef Brigade is launching on the Nintendo Switch and PC on November 20th, and you can grab it from Steam when it releases, or the eShop on Switch!

Quick Take

Can't say enough good things about the game. When I talked with Trinket Studios at Indy PopCon, it was awesome to see how excited they were about the game and how much they care about the mechanics being "perfectly cooked" for players to enjoy. Even when it was in Alpha/Beta state, the game was super smooth and enjoyable to play so I can't wait to get my hands on it!
