The teaser shows some kind of communications screen. The words "Anomaly Detected" appear on the screen before playing a roughly one-minute-long audio message.
The Banished Halo Teaser is simply an audio message from an unseen foe. Here's what it says:
"The hour approaches. Forces occupy the ring, within hours it will be under our control. Humanity will burn. Their brazen defiance will be all but a memory. No more prophets, no more lies. We stand together, brothers to the end. We are his will. We are his legacy. We are the Banished."
The contents of the message are pretty clear, but what we don't yet know is what this means for Halo.
What Does The Banished Halo Teaser Mean?
If you're unfamiliar with the Banished, it's a mercenary faction of the Covenant that broke away from the Empire during the war between the Human and the Covenant. Lead by Atriox, the Banished is comprised of several different species including Unggoy, Huragok, and Mgalekgolo.
The Banished first made its first (and as yet only) game appearance in Halo Wars 2; it has since appeared in several Halo games and novels, but it's only had one game appearance so far.
Is This a Halo Wars 2 Teaser?
This leads us to the big and final question: is this a teaser for Halo Wars 2 coming to The Master Chief Collection, or is it something else entirely?
The next big game in the franchise is Halo Infinite which is expected to launch during the Holiday 2020 season. The inclusion of The Banished would certainly make the story a heck of a lot more interesting than fighting the regular kinds of enemies we've seen before.
However, Halo Wars 2 was a fun game in its own right. The Banished Halo teaser may be heralding the addition of this game to The Master Chief Collection. Alternatively, we could be looking at a potential Halo Wars 2 Steam release.
Whatever this might be, it's certainly a good reason to get hyped up. We're sure to find out what exactly this means at the next big Xbox event which should be coming sometime in July 2020.
