The Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance Nintendo Switch release date has been unexpectedly delayed, pushing back the surprising revival of this classic console game.
If you've never played Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance, you missed out on a pretty good action RPG. While the Baldur's Gate franchise is pretty popular in its own right, Dark Alliance mixed things up in an unexpected way: it shifted the gameplay from turn-based strategy to a real-time action RPG and completely passed over launching on PC (a flaw that will be fixed later this year, with a PC release), opting to launch on the PlayStation 2, Xbox, and GameCube instead.
It's been nearly 20 years since the game first graced our consoles and it has since been revealed that it's getting a revival for modern consoles. Unfortunately, it looks like some players have been waiting a bit longer than expected — and in the case of the Nintendo Switch, it's going to be several days at least.
Why Was the Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance Nintendo Switch Release Date Delayed?
The Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance Nintendo Switch release date was delayed due to an "unforeseen issue" according to a tweet from Black Isle Studios.
"Hey all," began Black Isle Studios' tweet on the delay, "Due to an unforeseen issue on the Nintendo Switch store, we’re going to have to delay the launch for a few days to fix it. We’re incredibly sorry about this and we’re working hard to remedy this as quickly as possible. Thanks for your patience!"
The Nintendo Switch delay is the big issue here, but it's not the only problem; the game has yet to launch on the U.S. PlayStation Store or Microsoft Store at the time of writing. That's following a tweet from this morning that it would launch on PlayStation and Xbox "in a couple hours."
When is the Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance Nintendo Switch Release Date?
Unfortunately, we don't yet know the Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance Nintendo Switch release date. According to Black Isle's tweet, we're going to be waiting "a few days" at least.
Hopefully, we'll see Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance launch on the Switch and other platforms sooner rather than later. For now, you can keep an eye on Black Isle Studios' Twitter for new developments.
