Yostar is celebrating the 5th anniversary of the long-running mobile game Azur Lane, which is still quite popular today among shipgirl fans.

This anniversary is specifically about the global version of the game, which was launched earlier in China and Japan (the 6th anniversary of the Japanese version happens in September).

For the occasion, the publisher revealed a music video featuring many of the most beloved shipgirls featuring the song "Ain't Backing Down" performed by Liz Y2K. While the style imitates anime, it's not made by Yostar's own internal studio, but by Arcus and Windy Studio.

You can watch it below.

On top of the music video, we get a look at the upcoming event "The Fool's Scales" which will run between August 17 and August 31. It'll feature new shipgirls from the French factions Vichya Dominion and Iris Libre.

These include Super Rare Battleship Clemenceau, Super Rare Light Cruiser Guichen, Super Rare Aircraft Carrier Painlevé, Elite Heavy Cruiser Suffren, Elite Battleship Lyon, and Elite Destroyer Kersaint.

We're also getting a retrofit for West Virginia, which will upgrade her to Super Rare.

Below you can check out the teaser trailer of the event. This one has been animated by Yostar Studios.

If you're not familiar with Azur Lane, it's a popular mobile game published by Yostar, available for iOS and Android. It's a shoot'em up/RPG hybrid and it's free-to-play with the inevitable gacha microtransactions.

It's worth mentioning that Compile Heart is working on a sequel of the console game Azur Lane: Crosswave, but we haven't heard much about it since it was teased in September 2021. We don't know when more news will be shared about it.
